Tucson, AZ (Jan. 6, 2012) – Mary (Mari) Diffley has been appointed Chief Operations Officer for the Community Foundation for Southern Arizona (CFSA). She is responsible for managing finance, IT and work flow systems for the organization said Clint Mabie, President and CEO. Diffley has more than 25 years experience in operations and finance including CPA work in the state of New York. Her experience also includes information technology financial systems. She earned a MBA from the University of Arizona and a BBA in Business and Accounting from Pace University in New York City.

(Tucson, AZ) December 13, 2011 -- “Remembering January 8th” is a community-wide effort that will commemorate the first anniversary of the tragic day in 2011 when U.S. Representative Gabrielle Giffords (D-AZ) and eighteen other citizens were shot during a public constituent event held at a Tucson shopping center. Six of the shooting victims died that day. This year, in order to honor Tucson's response in the aftermath of this tragedy, many community and grassroots organizations have come together to provide a variety of Commemorative events that will take place throughout January 2012.

Jan. 25, 2011 – Phil and Carol Lyons from Tucson are starting a scholarship fund at the Community Foundation for Southern Arizona to benefit students in the School of Government and Public Policy (SGPP) at the University of Arizona, in honor of Christina-Taylor Green, who died in the Jan. 8 shooting rampage, and Daniel Hernandez, Jr., a SGPP student whose bravery helped save U.S. Rep. Gabrielle Giffords’ life.

TUCSON, Ariz -- April 20, 2010 -- The Community Foundation for Southern Arizona has named J. Clinton Mabie as president/CEO. “We welcome Clint to our organization and our community. We are confident both will be enriched by his expertise and passion for charitable giving,” said Paul Lindsey, chair of the CFSA board of trustees. Steve Alley, former president/CEO resigned in January.

TUCSON, Ariz -- January 12, 2010 -- Paul Lindsey, Chair of the Community Foundation for Southern Arizona Board of Trustsees announced yesterday to the Board of Trustees that Steve Alley, CFSA President/CEO, has submitted his resignation from CFSA to pursue other interests. Mr. Alley will continue to lead CFSA until April 30, 2010 or until his successor is identified.

Called the Literacy Funders Network (LFN) the group joins together the efforts of diverse regional and national foundations to address a problem that affects nearly one in two adults. The Community Foundation for Southern Arizona is one of 20 foundations involved in the network.
