Phil and Carol Lyons from Tucson have started a scholarship fund in honor of Christina-Taylor Green and Daniel Hernandez, Jr.  "Here’s a young man who had been interning with Gabrielle Giffords only five days. He put his life at risk to save her life.  And the idea of a 9-year old losing her life added to the sadness of the entire situation," said Phil Lyons.

The scholarship fund supports students at the University of Arizona in the School of Government and Public Policy.  The first scholarship recipients, Su Myint and May Mgbolu, were awarded in Spring 2012.
 
The Lyons strongly encourage the community to contribute to this scholarship fund. They are providing a match for new contributions in order to build the fund to a sustainable level to distribute a minimum of two hundred and fifty thousand to students who represent the values of Christina-Taylor and Daniel Hernandez, Jr.
