Alternatives to Private Foundations

Some clients may believe that a private foundation provides their only option for hands-on and long-term involvement with the assets they set aside for charitable purposes.

In reality, a named fund or supporting organization at the Community Foundation for Southern Arizona offers numerous advantages to these clients, provides real ways for them to stay engaged in giving, and avoids the hassles of administrative management.

Compare  four approaches to giving and discover the benefits of setting up a fund at the Community Foundation for Southern Arizona.

Assets of a private foundation may be used to establish a donor advised fund, unrestricted fund, field of interest fund, designated fund, supporting organization or a scholarship fund. Each of these funds allow your client to remain involved in their grantmaking if that is their wish.  Visit our Giving Options for more information on the types of funds available.

Depending on the type of fund that is established, their board can stay involved in setting grant priorities, advising on grant awards, and assessing grant success.

The Community Foundation for Southern Arizona will ensure that the donor's intent, fund name and pattern of charitable giving are honored - in perpetuity.
