Diane Lynne Anderson Memorial Award

Prior to her death in 1990, Diane Anderson was a major force in implementing programs for people with disabilities in Pima County. Beginning in the 1970’s, Diane was among the first counselors outside the government system to work specifically with individuals with disabilities when no such programs were available.

The Diane Lynn Anderson Memorial Award was established at the Community Foundation for Southern Arizona by one of her clients to recognize those who, through their work with individuals with disabilities, have shown the kinds of qualities Diane exhibited: patience, respect, compassion, devotion, and caring for individuals and their needs. Her caring for people came from the heart.

Who should be nominated? This award goes annually to the person or persons who have most closely demonstrated the qualities with which Diane enriched the lives of her clients. Some of these qualities are active acceptance and respect for people with disabilities. Other qualities include establishment of advocacy services and increased community resources for people with disabilities. Your nominee may be an individual, volunteer, group, or organization.
