Community Foundation Celebrates a Milestone
Last Updated Apr 2010
Paul Lindsey, Chair of the Community Foundation for Southern Arizona Board of Trustees announced yesterday to the Board of Trustees that Steve Alley, CFSA President/CEO, has submitted his resignation from CFSA to pursue other interests. Mr. Alley will continue to lead CFSA until April 30, 2010 or until his successor is identified.
Mr. Alley joined CFSA in 2001 as President/CEO. When Alley arrived at the Foundation, CFSA's assets were $61-million. In the 8 1/2 years since that time, CFSA has received nearly $69 million in gifts, and given back nearly $67 million in grants and distributions throughout the community. CFSA now has over $91 million in assets, and annualy grants to the community, with a particular emphasis on funding in the areas of lifelong learning; healthy people and quality of life; arts, culture and heritage; and workforce development and skills training. Under Alley's leadership, CFSA has been active in the development of new funds and in the identification of strategic funding targets to benefit Southern Arizona, including the recently founded Literacy for Life Coalition and the Economic Relief and Stability Fund, which was established last year in response to the worsening economic situation of 2008-2009.
“I am so grateful for the support that I have received from the Board, our volunteers, staff, donors and the community during my time at the Community Foundation, and I remain committed to its mission and the future of this community,” Alley told the Board.
“Steve has been a fine representative of the Foundation to our fundholders and the community at large and has raised awareness of the community foundation model in his 8-plus years as our President/CEO. I know I am speaking for the entire Board when I wish him the very best,” stated Lindsey.
A board search committee has been formed to identify a successor to Mr. Alley, and the search is expected to be completed within the next two to three months.
