Supporting Organizations
Creating a Supporting Organization is an appealing alternative to establishing a private foundation. Supporting Organizations maintain their own identities, gain significant tax advantages and benefit from a reduced burden of administrative work. Board members and donors participate in the grant making process and at the same time benefit from the professional support services at CFSA.
Supporting Organizations are relatively easy to establish, benefit by paying no excise tax, and are only required to grant amounts consistent with CFSA’s spending policy.
The following entities work in partnership with CFSA as Supporting Organizations of the Foundation:
CFSA Properties, Inc. receives and holds properties on behalf of the community. Established in July 1993
William Edwin Hall Foundation primarily funds programs for children and youth with a focus on prevention activities that enable them to become healthy and productive adults. Established in May 2000
The Worth and Dot Howard Foundation offers educational scholarships to a wide range of meritorious individuals. Each year designated Arizona schools, community colleges and other higher learning institutions are invited to participate. Established in May 2000
I Have a Dream Foundation of Tucson provides financial support for a class of students that began at Laguna Elementary School. The program has followed these student "Dreamers" through high school and, as long as they graduated, provides them with tuition to attend either a four-year, two-year or vocational institution anywhere in the United States. Established in November 1994
Knisely Family Foundation gives priority in its grantmaking to organizations that nurture children, strengthen families and foster self sufficiency; enhance educational and cultural experiences; preserve and improve livability through citizen involvement, and foster improvement in medicine and health care. Established in June 2000
Melody S. Robidoux Foundation grants to a wide variety of organizations and provides non-profit organizations with technical assistance in the form of design and production of printed materials. Established in May 1981
Sycamore Canyon Conservation Foundation guides the conservation, protection and appreciation of the dedicated Sycamore Canyon Preserve natural open space. www.sycamorecanyontucson.com Established in September 2005
Thomas R. Brown Family Foundation promotes, encourages and aids the work of benevolent, charitable, hospital, scientific, literary, and educational institutions in Tucson, nationally and internationally. Established in December 1998
Women’s Foundation of Southern Arizona, a social change organization committed to helping women and girls overcome economic, political, gender and social barriers. The Women’s Foundation improves the status of women in southern Arizona by supporting and funding public policy work, advocacy and research. www.womengiving.org Established in July 1999
Zuckerman Community Outreach Foundation supports individuals and organizations for the promotion of health and wellness on a local and national level, as well as extending generosity to necessary, creative, and artistic endeavors that positively impact the human experience.
