The LGBT&S Alliance Fund

www.alliancefund.org

The Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, Transgender and Straight (LGBT&S) Alliance Fund was created in 1999 through a partnership with the National Lesbian and Gay Community Funding Partnership.  Administered by the Community Foundation for Southern Arizona, the LGBT&S Alliance Fund has sought to address the chronic pattern of underfunding of LGBT programs, and to develop and improve resources that benefit the LGBT community through philanthropy and endowment building.

The LGBT&S Alliance Fund has become known for making grants available at critical times during the development of an organization’s infrastructure. Since its inception, the LGBT&S Alliance Fund has awarded more than 40 grants totaling nearly $270,000 to local nonprofits.  Awards have supported such diverse programs as the production of Falsettoland and The Wrestling Season, the Arizona Family Pride Art Gallery located in Bisbee, the annual Sex and Scholarship Symposium organized by the University of Arizona’s Committee on Lesbian/Gay/Bisexual Studies, the YWCA’s Journey to a Hate-Free Millennium, and Habitat for Humanity's Rainbow Build.
