Our Competitive Grantmaking
The Community Foundation for Southern Arizona  supports a broad array of charitable purposes including:

  • Arts & Culture
  • Community Enhancement
  • Education
  • Environment
  • Health & Human Services
  • Recreation

We consider proposals from tax-exempt non-for-profit organizations as well as grassroots organizations that have a charitable purpose and are based in Southern Arizona. Priority is given to proposals that promote collaboration and build on the strengths of individulas and communities. Funds are generally not available for:

  • Endowment building
  • Capital campaigns
  • Debt retirement
  • Research
  • Individuals
  • Underwriting fundraising events

In 2004-2005 we granted $10.6 million through donor advised funds and our discretionary grant making.

How to recognize us

Congratulations on receiving a competitive grant from the Community Foundation for Southern Arizona!

We hope you'll help us spread the word. You can assist us by listing the award in your annual report, newsletters, and other correspondence with your donors and clients.

We ask that you use our full legal name: Community Foundation for Southern Arizona when referring to your grant.

We are working to raise the public's awareness of your work, too. We send out press releases on our competitive grants  and list grant recipients on our website. Often we send letters to donors sharing the results of our grant rounds  and encouraging them to make additional gifts as well.

Spreading the word together can help everyone. As our competitive grants gain even more visibility, the more donors want to contribute to our unrestricted funds, and the more funding we can make available to you.

Again, congratulations!
